We at New York Express® believe that just like your first language, a second language should be acquired, not learned.

Fluency is attained through the need and capacity to communicate in real situations, not through the learning and memorization of rules and vocabulary.

That is why at New York Express® we build our classes around natural interactions, engaging the student in real situations (we can’t repeat this enough times), which means that the classes focus on conversation, rather than on grammar, rules and vocabulary lists.

Our book – developed during storytelling classes – is the result of 10 years teaching English as a second language.

But remember this: no book, this one included, can alone make you fluent in English.

You will still need the most important thing: a nice and patient teacher with good stories to tell you.

Only that can help you fulfill your human desire to speak another language. The NYE Handbook is just an attempt to save time (both yours and the teacher’s) at moments in which old lessons are repeated and old rules should be remembered.

Only through the storytelling method can you re-experience the original way by which you learned your native language and only storytelling can lead you to the path of fluency in English.
